Dr. Eddy is the Cable-Rubenstein Professor of Psychology in the Field of Eating Disorders in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, the Associate Chief in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in the AMC Department of Psychiatry at Mass General Brigham, and the Co-Director of the Eating Disorders Clinical and Research Program (EDCRP) at Massachusetts General Hospital. Her research focuses on understanding the pathophysiology of restrictive eating disorders and using this knowledge to develop and test novel treatments. She has written more than 200 scientific papers and has written two books describing her novel ARFID treatment including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder: Children, Adolescents, and Adults, and The Picky Eater’s Recovery Book, and is the co-author of Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy for Anorexia Nervosa: A Clinician’s Guide to CBT-AN-20. Her NIH- and foundation-funded research includes randomized controlled clinical trials testing novel psychotherapy and medication interventions for anorexia nervosa and ARFID, which build on her brain-based research to target neural mechanisms through treatment. Dr. Eddy is also well-known for her longitudinal research, having led an outcome study of anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa documenting recovery rates over 25 years. She has served as President of the Eating Disorders Research Society and received research awards for her scientific contributions to the field.
